Install day

What happens on install day

  1. Step 1

    Remove the old shingles

We remove all existing old shingles. Discards go into a dump trailer and are hauled to an approved landfill.

  2. Step 2

    Repair the decking

We replace or repair bad decking or 1x6 boards, whichever applies to your roof.

  3. Step 3

    Ice and water shield

We install ice and water shield to protect sloped roofs from wind-driven rain and ice dam water backup.

  4. Step 4

    Underlayment

We apply underlayment, asphalt felt or synthetic, as building codes and shingle manufacturers require.

  5. Step 5

    New shingles

We apply shingles, starting at the eaves and working upward.

  6. Step 6

    Flashing

We apply flashing around chimneys, stack vents, and pipes to direct water away from seams and joints.

  7. Step 7

    Ventilation

We install ventilation at the peak so warm, humid attic air escapes.

  8. Step 8

    Cleanup

We clean up the surrounding area so it is free of nails and discarded materials.
